Objects of Terror Update History: Beta Patch Changes

What Changed Between Public Beta and BETA 1.0.1?

The Objects of Terror update history moves from the Public Beta launch to BETA 1.0.1, which reworks Announcer and adjusts survival tools across the roster. Returning players should revisit attack timing, movement cooldowns, and pitfall protection before jumping into another chase. The Roblox experience received an update on November 4, 2026.

Public Beta introduced the playable foundation: three Co-Hosts, nine Contestants, five maps, and a 1v7 horror format. BETA 1.0.1 follows with character balance changes, hitbox adjustments, and fixes for mobile and controller controls.

The game remains in beta, with further development planned for its core gameplay loop.

Public Beta: Launch Characters, Maps, and Mechanics

Public Beta established matches with up to eight players: one Co-Host hunting seven Contestants. Its character roster includes the following difficulty ratings and intended playstyles.

The Five Launch Maps

The opening map pool draws on locations from the object shows:

  • Underground Factory: Inspired by BFDI.
  • 5B: Inspired by BFDIA.
  • Noctiluca Cavern: Inspired by BFDIA.
  • Evil Forest: Inspired by BFDIA.
  • Purgatory Mansion: Inspired by II2.

Survival and Team Features

Eight item types appear around the maps, while Recovery Centers allow dead Contestants to return to play. A ranking system rewards team contributions, and Contestant objectives give survivors additional reasons to help their teammates.

Last Object Standing activates when only one Contestant remains, granting that survivor a buff and playing a character-specific song. In the Public Beta release, Candle, Leafy, Lightbulb, and Snowball did not have their own LOS themes.

Launch features also included a shop for characters and cosmetics, settings, an information menu covering mechanics and character guides, and five Employee NPCs. PC, mobile, and console support were part of the Public Beta release.

BETA 1.0.1: Hitboxes, Pitfalls, and Movement

BETA 1.0.1 adjusted hitbox leniency to make lingering attacks more consistent across different ping levels. It also enlarged the Stun Immunity visual, making that state easier to recognize.

Objects of Terror — BETA 1.0.1: Hitboxes, Pitfalls, and Movement

The general gameplay changes include:

  • Adrenaline provides Pitfall Resistance. It reduces pitfall punishment.
  • Pitfall Resistance prevents pitfall deaths. Its protection also lasts longer after application.
  • Jump cooldown increased.
  • Many abilities receive shorter cooldowns after killing a bug.
  • Single-hit Contestant damage sources continue after killing a bug. This includes Shock Wires and Electrokinesis.

Leave more time between jumps after this patch. For pitfall routes, use the protection granted by Adrenaline while it is active.

Announcer and MePhoneX Balance Changes

Announcer received changes to Slice, RUN, and Budget Cutter. These affect damage, attack timing, and how clearly Contestants can read incoming attacks.

AbilityEarlier Value or BehaviorBETA 1.0.1
Slice damage3027.5
Slice cooldownShorter cooldown3 seconds
RUN base damage1030
RUN poison damage1 DPS0.75 DPS
Budget Cutter damage1520: 10 upfront, plus 1 DPS Poisoned for 10 seconds
MePhoneX X Boost damage to non-grabbed Contestants1025

Announcer’s Reworked Attacks

Slice now uses a smaller hitbox positioned farther forward.

RUN has a much shorter, telegraphed windup and very limited turning control. Announcer enters shiftlock during that windup, showing the direction of the attack. RUN can now be blocked, although blocking only removes its base damage, and it can no longer hit Invincible players.

Watch Announcer’s facing direction during RUN’s windup, and account for the poison even when you block.

Budget Cutter also gained a short, telegraphed windup. Announcer enters shiftlock while aiming it, revealing its travel direction, and repeatedly spamming the ability reduces its damage.

MePhoneX’s Grab and Meter Changes

MePhoneX’s Grab hitbox became smaller to account for the more lenient hitbox system. X Boost now deals 25 damage to Contestants who are not grabbed, up from 10.

MeTech consumes more meter, preventing indefinite flight outside MeCloak. Watch your meter when extending an aerial pursuit.

Contestant Ability Changes

Several Contestants received changes that affect chase timing, defensive reactions, and how their abilities interact with teammates.

Lightbulb

Dive’s self-damage now depends on the angle of the surface hit and the distance fallen. Self-damage can occur only once per dive.

Dive also shoves both Contestants and Co-Hosts. On impact, Lightbulb becomes Invincible for the remainder of the ragdoll, and both players are pushed away from each other.

The effect depends on the target:

  • Against a Contestant: Lightbulb takes no damage, and the other Contestant receives a burst of Adrenaline.
  • Against a Co-Host: Both characters take 5 damage.

Dr Fizz

Fizzy Grenade can no longer be used at low Pressure. Dr Fizz now builds Pressure even while stationary, with faster gain when moving horizontally above base running speed.

Taking damage also grants more Pressure. Fizzy Grenade’s stats were adjusted to make quick puddle use more useful during a chase.

Check Pressure before committing to a grenade.

Teardrop

Teardrop’s cooldowns increased:

  • Throw: Increased, with a 15-second cooldown on hit.
  • Roll: Increased.
  • Roll after resisting an attack: Uses a shorter 10-second cooldown.

Track the cooldown produced by your last action before planning another escape.

Leafy

Knife stun duration now depends on how many knives hit the Co-Host, rather than how many were thrown. Missing earlier throws no longer reduces the first successful hit’s stun: that hit still delivers the full 1.25 seconds.

Blocky

Shock Wire now receives its shorter cancellation cooldown if Blocky is blocked while placing it. Crafty Toss now has a 15-second cooldown after shoving a Co-Host with an item.

Mobile, Controller, and Private Server Changes

BETA 1.0.1 addressed several control problems that could interfere with movement or ability use:

  • Mobile UI elements were adjusted to prevent overlap.
  • Ability tooltips were corrected to avoid interfering with joystick movement or appearing without an ability being hovered over.
  • Panning the mobile camera no longer automatically triggers third abilities.
  • Mobile shiftlock correctly determines ability aim.
  • Controller menu navigation received stability fixes.
  • Spectating a player who enters shiftlock no longer leaves the spectator locked in that mode.

Other fixes corrected food descriptions and Leafy’s interaction with the front of the exit door. Teleporting out of R.U.N’s obstacle course was also made less common.

Free private servers retain a panel for testing mechanics and changing how matches run. In BETA 1.0.1, they gained the same player requirement as normal servers, with an option to disable it through that panel. Any player can also use the panel to spawn as developer-exclusive classes.

Disable the player requirement in your private server when setting up a smaller test session, then use the panel to practice the revised abilities.
