What Is Noctiluca Cavern?

Looking for Objects of Terror noctiluca? The location’s full name is Noctiluca Cavern, a BFDIA-inspired map included in the Public Beta. Prepare for the game’s 1v7 horror format: seven Contestants face a Co-Host whose goal is to eliminate them.

The cavern belongs to a map lineup built around distorted versions of familiar object-show locations. Its BFDIA connection puts it alongside 5B and Evil Forest, while Underground Factory draws from BFDI and Purgatory Mansion draws from II2.

Survival Mechanics to Know Before Playing

Matches support up to eight players, and surviving involves more than keeping away from the Co-Host. The Public Beta includes these shared gameplay systems:

  • Items: Eight item types can appear around each map. Read their descriptions to learn their uses.
  • Recovery Centers: These let players revive eliminated Contestants. Keep reviving teammates in mind when deciding how to contribute.
  • Contestant objectives: Complete objectives to support your team; the ranking system rewards team contributions.
  • Last Object Standing: When only one Contestant remains, that player receives buffs. Character-dependent songs also play, although Candle, Leafy, Lightbulb, and Snowball do not yet have themes in the Public Beta.

Last Object Standing activates through eliminations. Keep helping teammates while they are alive rather than planning your match around becoming the final survivor.

Movement Changes in BETA 1.0.1

The jump cooldown increased in BETA 1.0.1. Time consecutive jumps around that longer delay when practicing movement.

Adrenaline now also acts as Pitfall Resistance, reducing pitfall punishment. Pitfall Resistance prevents Contestants from dying to pitfalls, and its effect lingers longer after application. Learn these current rules before relying on movement habits from the initial beta.

Practice With the Private Server Panel

Use a free private server to test mechanics and play with friends. In BETA 1.0.1, private servers have a player requirement, but the private server panel lets you disable it for solo practice.

Before joining a regular match:

  1. Read your character’s guide in the info menu. It covers both basic mechanics and individual characters.
  2. Practice with the current jump cooldown. Build your timing around the longer delay between jumps.
  3. Test abilities through the private server panel. The panel also allows players to spawn as developer-exclusive classes.

For a simpler character to learn alongside the map, try Blocky, Dr Fizz, or Leafy, each rated one star in the Public Beta difficulty system. Higher star counts indicate more challenging characters; Golf Ball and Snowball both carry five-star ratings.
