Objects of Terror Beginner Guide: Survive Your Debut
Use this Objects of Terror beginner guide to learn Leafy's abilities, find recovery centers, support teammates, and handle your first Co-Host matches.

Learn the Roles and Map Before Taking Risks
Surviving a chase means little if you leave every teammate behind. This Objects of Terror beginner guide focuses on learning your abilities, using recovery centers, and creating chances for other Contestants to escape. Those habits matter whether you're dodging Announcer's bugs or lining up a stun.
Objects of Terror is a Roblox asymmetrical horror game built around object shows, including Battle for Dream Island and Inanimate Insanity. A full server holds eight players: one Co-Host against seven Contestants. Contestants work to survive, while the Co-Host tries to eliminate them all.
1. Read your character's guide before the round
Open Info → Guide, then select a character to read about their abilities. Learn what starts an attack, what cancels it, and which moves restrict your movement.
This matters immediately with characters such as Leafy, whose Knife Toss forces her to walk. Activating an unfamiliar ability during a chase can leave you moving slowly when you need distance.
The game remains in beta, so revisit those descriptions after updates.
2. Locate recovery centers and learn the paths between areas
Look for recovery centers while exploring. They let teammates bring eligible eliminated Contestants back into the round, making their locations worth remembering before someone needs help.
Pay attention to bridges, elevation changes, and paths into other map sections. Gameplay includes damaging floor spikes and drops into the void, so inspect a route before committing to it under pressure.
Your early badges track these basic milestones:
| Badge | How to earn it |
|---|---|
| LET THE TERROR BEGIN | Join the game for the first time. |
| ELIMINATION TIME | Experience your first loss. |
| SEASON WINNER | Win as the final Contestant. |
Use Leafy's Stuns and Mobility With a Purpose

3. Practice Knife Toss before relying on it for a rescue
Leafy is a one-star Contestant with a stun-focused survival kit. Her Lofty passive increases her jump height and walking speed while she isn't running.
Knife Toss lets her throw up to three knives toward the cursor. The knives apply stacking stuns, but each successive knife stuns for less time. Throwing more knives also increases the cooldown.
Choose how many to throw based on the immediate problem:
- One knife: Interrupt an important Co-Host ability.
- Two knives: Create breathing room during a chase.
- Three knives: Extend the stun while a teammate gets away.
After activating Knife Toss, use M1 or right trigger to throw. The second ability becomes the cancel button while Knife Toss is active. Practice canceling so you can leave the stance when you need to move.
4. Use elevation to line up throws
Throwing a knife while airborne gives Leafy a short hop. Chaining those throws adds height, giving her another way to reach elevated positions.
Practice that movement away from ledges before using it during a chase. From higher ground, aim to interrupt the Co-Host as they approach a teammate. Once the stun lands, use that opening to reposition.
5. Start Blue Skidaddle before the Co-Host reaches you
Blue Skidaddle has a long windup before teleporting Leafy to the location farthest from any Co-Host.
Getting hit during the charge cancels the teleport and makes that hit deal 50% more damage. Create separation before activating it, and check for Announcer's pursuing bugs. A distant Co-Host doesn't make the charge safe when a bug is already closing in.
Recover Teammates and Give Support Abilities Room

6. Check whether an eliminated teammate can return
Elimination doesn't always end a Contestant's round. Recovery centers can revive eligible teammates, and automatic recovery centers also appear in play.
When a teammate needs recovery, check the route and the Co-Host's position before heading over. If you're playing a stunner such as Leafy, use your interruption tools to create an opening for someone else to reach the center.
7. Find space before using Candle's healing
Candle has a support kit that includes healing, and her healing action can leave her stationary. Announcer's bugs can interrupt it.
Move away from immediate pressure before starting the ability. If bugs are following you, deal with that threat before committing to a stationary heal. Read Candle's descriptions first so you know how to end an active ability instead of searching for the cancel input mid-chase.
Recognize Co-Host Threats Before Spending Your Abilities
8. Watch Announcer's bugs as closely as Announcer
Announcer can pressure Contestants with bugs and an obstacle-course challenge. Those bugs matter beyond direct damage: they can interrupt healing and catch Leafy during her teleport windup.
Check behind you before starting either action. During the obstacle course, use Leafy's higher jump to handle elevation changes, but keep your landing path clear of hazards.
9. Save an interruption for a threatening attack
Leafy's stuns cancel abilities the Co-Host is using. That gives a single knife a specific job against attacks such as MePhoneX's charge or laser.
Aim to interrupt the attack rather than automatically throwing every knife available. When you receive the Co-Host role yourself, read the kit before chasing: Announcer, MePhoneX, and Evil Leafy are separate characters, so learning one doesn't replace learning the others.
Understand Cosmetic Purchases Before Spending Robux
10. Buy the Steamworks pack for its appearance
The Steamworks Skin Pack costs 500 Robux and contains five skins—for Blocky, Dr Fizz, Golf Ball, Test Tube, and Evil Leafy—plus 10 stickers based on those skins.
Its items are purely cosmetic and provide no gameplay advantage. Spend on it if you want those designs; practice ability timing, recovery routes, and map movement to improve your matches.
