Who Is Announcer in Objects of Terror?

The Objects of Terror announcer can pursue Contestants across floors, walls, and ceilings, so your next attack doesn't have to come from ground level. He's a playable Co-Host in this 1v7 horror game, with a kit built around rushing targets and controlling space. His one-star difficulty rating places him at the accessible end of the roster, with a Rushdown / Zoner playstyle.

Beta 1.0.1 makes aiming especially important. Slice has a smaller, more forward-facing hitbox, while Budget Cutter and R.U.N reveal their direction during their windups. Line up your attacks before committing.

Slice

Slice has a 3-second cooldown in Beta 1.0.1, increased from 2 seconds. Its damage also dropped from 30 to 27.5.

Keep the Contestant directly in front of you before swinging. Avoid relying on a target brushing past your side: the smaller, forward-facing hitbox makes that a poor angle for an attack.

Budget Cutter

Budget Cutter sends a sawblade toward your cursor. It follows surfaces it touches until reaching a ceiling, and its limited uses recharge over time.

The Beta 1.0.1 version adds a short windup and forces Announcer into shiftlock while aiming, making the blade's direction visible. Its listed damage totals 20 across the direct hit and full poison duration, but repeated spam reduces its damage.

Space out your shots and aim along the target's route. Use the surface-traveling behavior to pressure paths that a straight melee approach cannot cover.

R.U.N

R.U.N pauses Announcer before a forward rush. A successful hit sends the Contestant into a dangerous obstacle course they must escape.

Beta 1.0.1 shortens the windup but gives the rush very limited turning control. Announcer also enters shiftlock during preparation, revealing his direction.

Aim before activating it, and commit when the target's path gives them less room to move sideways. Avoid planning around a sharp turn halfway through the rush.

Bugs and Spider Legs

Bugs has a 35-second cooldown and sends hunters after each Contestant. Their hits combine damage over time with Revealed, Antiheal, and Poisoned.

Use Bugs to help locate targets, then choose your pursuit from the revealed positions.

Spider Legs is Announcer's passive: he can walk on walls and ceilings. Check those surfaces for alternative approaches instead of following every Contestant along the same floor route.

How to Build Pressure During a Chase

Use your abilities to solve different chase problems:

Objects of Terror — How to Build Pressure During a Chase

  • When you need target information: Send Bugs, then act on the revealed locations.
  • When a target is outside melee reach: Aim Budget Cutter along their escape route.
  • When their route offers a clear forward line: Prepare R.U.N before they reach a turn.
  • When you're already close: Face the target and use Slice.

Treat R.U.N as a commitment. Its limited steering makes the initial direction more important than trying to correct a rushed activation.

Keep Budget Cutter's recharge and reduced spam damage in mind, too. Aim each blade deliberately rather than spending your available uses as quickly as possible.

How to Counter Announcer

Watch his facing during Budget Cutter and R.U.N windups. Both attacks telegraph their direction through forced shiftlock.

Against R.U.N, move out of the projected path before the rush reaches you. Exploit its limited turn control by changing direction instead of continuing straight ahead.

Blocking R.U.N negates its base damage only. Don't assume a block removes every consequence of the hit. The attack also cannot hit Invincible Contestants.

Against Slice, move away from the space directly in front of him between attacks. Its 3-second cooldown gives you a clear reason to react after a missed swing.

Check walls and ceilings while escaping. His passive allows approaches above ground level, so keep those surfaces in view when tracking his position.
