Objects of Terror How to Win: Contestant & Co-Host Tips

How Do You Win in Objects of Terror?

One missed escape opportunity can end your season. This Objects of Terror how to win guide focuses on surviving and escaping as a Contestant or eliminating every Contestant as a Co-Host. Understanding both sides helps you recognize when to fight, recover a teammate, or leave.

Objects of Terror is a 1v7 asymmetrical horror game. Your priorities depend on your role:

  • Contestant: Stay alive, use your character’s abilities to support your survival and teammates, and take the exit when you can escape.
  • Co-Host: Eliminate every Contestant. Keep Recovery Centers and the final survivor’s buff in mind while pursuing that goal.

The SEASON WINNER badge rewards winning as the final Contestant. Last Object Standing gives that remaining player a buff; you still need to finish the round successfully.

Choose a Contestant Whose Abilities You Can Manage

Start with a lower-difficulty character while learning the maps. Blocky, Dr Fizz, and Leafy each have a one-star difficulty rating, but their intended roles differ: Blocky emphasizes traps and stuns, Dr Fizz supports and defends, and Leafy combines survival with stuns.

Read your character’s entry in the in-game info menu before committing to a more demanding kit. Golf Ball and Snowball both carry five-star difficulty ratings.

In Beta 1.0.1, several ability details directly affect how safely you can play:

  • Teardrop: Roll’s cooldown is reduced to 10 seconds when it resists an attack. Throw’s cooldown increases to 15 seconds on a hit. Plan your next escape route before spending either ability.
  • Leafy: Knife stun duration depends on hits against the Co-Host. Missing earlier knives does not consume the first successful hit’s full 1.25-second stun. Aim the next throw carefully instead of rushing after a miss.
  • Dr Fizz: Fizzy Grenade cannot activate at low Pressure. Check that resource before relying on the grenade during a chase.
  • Blocky: Shoving a Co-Host with an item through Crafty Toss puts it on a 15-second cooldown. Use the opening to reposition.

Dr Fizz now gains Pressure even while stationary, with increased gain when moving horizontally faster than base run speed. Build that resource before a confrontation whenever you have room to prepare.

Use Recovery Centers Before the Endgame

Recovery Centers revive dead Contestants. Learn where they are while exploring, then communicate when someone needs a recovery.

Objects of Terror — Use Recovery Centers Before the Endgame

Before approaching one, locate the Co-Host and choose a route away from the center. If you are being chased, lead the pursuit away from a teammate attempting the revival. Turning a recovery attempt into another elimination leaves the team with fewer options.

Last Object Standing activates when all but one Contestant has been eliminated. The remaining Contestant receives a buff and a character-specific song, although Candle, Leafy, Lightbulb, and Snowball lack LOS themes in the Public Beta.

Use the buff to pursue your escape. Avoid spending the opening on an unnecessary confrontation.

Keep exits in mind before reaching this stage. Explore connecting paths during quieter moments, and identify how to reach an exit from the areas where you spend the most time. A survival ability buys little if you use it without knowing where to go next.

Read Attacks Instead of Spending Every Defensive Ability

Announcer’s Beta 1.0.1 changes make attack direction especially useful to watch.

RUN has a short, telegraphed windup and limited turning control. Announcer is forced into shiftlock during that windup, revealing the direction of the charge. Watch the facing direction and move out of its path before it connects.

Blocking RUN prevents its base damage, but poison still applies. Save that distinction for moments when you must choose between blocking and avoiding the attack entirely.

Budget Cutter also has a short windup and forces Announcer into shiftlock while aiming. Use that directional tell to choose your next movement rather than reacting only after the attack launches.

Announcer’s Slice deals 27.5 damage and has a 3-second cooldown in this build. Use the gap after an attack to reposition, while watching for another ability.

Against MePhoneX, respect the space around a grabbed teammate: X Boost deals 25 damage to Contestants who are not grabbed. Avoid crowding the target during a rescue attempt.

Win as a Co-Host by Using Your Kit’s Strengths

The Public Beta gives each Co-Host a distinct difficulty and intended playstyle:

Co-HostDifficultyIntended playstyles
Announcer★☆☆☆☆Rushdown / Zoner
MePhoneX★★★☆☆Tunneler / Trickster
Evil Leafy★★★★★Ambusher / Snowballer

With Announcer, line up RUN before committing. Its limited turning makes a poorly aimed charge difficult to correct. Space out Budget Cutter uses: Beta 1.0.1 reduces its damage when spammed.

With MePhoneX, manage your meter during movement. MeTech consumes more meter in this build, preventing unlimited flight outside MeCloak. Plan where you want to land before spending your movement resource.

For every Co-Host, track recovery opportunities alongside active chases. Reviving Contestants returns opponents to the round, so keep nearby Recovery Centers in your route planning. When only one Contestant remains, account for their Last Object Standing buff before committing to an attack.

Practice the Decisions That Cost You Rounds

Use the free private servers to rehearse mechanics with friends. The private server panel can disable the normal player requirement, letting you set up practice sessions more easily.

Pick one interaction to learn at a time: dodging Announcer’s charge, timing Teardrop’s Roll, or reaching a Recovery Center from an unfamiliar area. Use the detailed in-game info menu alongside those sessions to learn your character’s mechanics before taking a complicated kit into a full match.
