What Kind of Killer Is MePhoneX?
Every boost competes for the meter that powers your next move. This Objects of Terror MePhoneX guide explains how his abilities work together and what Beta 1.0.1 changed. Learn those resource costs before committing to a chase, because flight, X Beam, and X Boost all draw from that meter.
MePhoneX is a Co-Host in the game’s 1v7 asymmetrical horror matches. His listed difficulty is three out of five stars, with a Tunneler / Trickster playstyle. His kit combines grabs, aerial movement, a targeted laser, and a cloak that helps build Isolation.
Focus on controlling one pursuit at a time. Spending meter to reach a Contestant also affects which abilities you can use once you catch them.

MeTech: Spend Meter to Gain Height
MeTech is the passive behind MePhoneX’s aerial movement. His meter fills over time, and holding jump while airborne spends it to propel him upward.
Use the lift to reach elevation during a chase, then release jump when you have the height you need. Beta 1.0.1 increased its meter consumption, so sustained flight outside MeCloak can no longer continue indefinitely.
Avoid draining the meter simply to stay airborne. Leave room for the ability you intend to use when you land.
Grab: Catch, Zap, and Kick
Grab uses M1. A successful grab catches a Contestant, zaps them, and kicks them forward. When a Contestant reaches 1 HP, they become Isolated; during Isolation, this ability changes into a short-range zap.
Close the gap before attacking. Beta 1.0.1 reduced Grab’s hitbox, making careful positioning especially relevant when a target changes direction.
Pay attention to the switch from grab to zap during Isolation. Your basic attack’s behavior changes at that point, so keep the remaining distance short.
X Beam: Place the Target Before the Laser Fires
X Beam places a target at your cursor, then fires a laser between targets after a brief delay. It applies Zapped and Burnt, and using it consumes meter.
Lead the target placement toward a Contestant’s expected movement instead of aiming only at where they are standing. The delay gives them time to move before the beam fires.
Check your remaining meter before spending it on aerial movement immediately ahead of a beam attempt.
X Boost: Commit Your Meter to a Dash
X Boost uses E and commits MePhoneX’s meter to a rapid forward burst. It can grab a Contestant, drag them along, and slam them into a wall. The hold continues until the meter is depleted.
Line up your approach before activating it. Aim the carry toward a wall to take advantage of the slam mechanic, and remember that the boost consumes the resource you also need for flight and X Beam.
MeCloak: Approach With a Tradeoff
MeCloak grants invisibility, speed, and Alert while leaving MePhoneX helpless. Reactivating it removes those effects but prevents running for a few seconds.
Keeping a Contestant in view while walking builds Isolation. Use that walking requirement deliberately instead of assuming that moving faster always advances your setup.
Choose where to end the cloak carefully. Cancel it with the temporary running restriction in mind, especially when the target is already pulling away.
What Beta 1.0.1 Changed
Three changes directly affect MePhoneX’s chases:
Image: Roblox / Fish Frontier
- Grab: Its hitbox became smaller to account for the broader hitbox-leniency adjustments.
- X Boost: Damage against non-grabbed Contestants increased from 10 to 25.
- MeTech: Flying consumes more meter, preventing unlimited flight outside MeCloak.
Keep X Boost’s damage distinction straight: 25 damage applies to non-grabbed Contestants. It is not a stated damage value for the grabbed target or the wall slam.
Practice the Kit and Earn the Win Badge
Use a free private server to rehearse ability transitions with friends. The private server panel lets you disable the usual player requirement for testing.
Practice short airborne boosts, wall-directed X Boost carries, and MeCloak cancellations. Watch how much meter remains after each action, and account for the running restriction when leaving cloak.
There is also a character-specific badge to pursue:
