What Can You Use in a Fight?
Looking for an Objects of Terror gun? The Public Beta has eight types of items to find around its maps, alongside character abilities for stunning, trapping, and defending against Co-Hosts. Learn how your Contestant’s tools work so you can make use of an opening during a chase.
The match setup puts those tools into context:
- Match format: One Co-Host against seven Contestants.
- Server capacity: Up to 8 players.
Contestants have different intended roles. Blocky combines trapping and stunning, Leafy combines survival and stunning, and Test Tube combines support and stunning. Their abilities give you specific ways to contribute beyond collecting map items.

Contestant Abilities in Beta 1.0.1
Pay attention to the conditions attached to an ability’s cooldown. Hitting an enemy or resisting an attack can change how long you wait before using it again.

| Contestant | Ability | Beta 1.0.1 behavior |
|---|---|---|
| Leafy | Knife | Stun duration depends on hits against the Co-Host. The first hit applies a 1.25-second stun, even after earlier misses. |
| Teardrop | Throw | Cooldown increases to 15 seconds on hit. |
| Teardrop | Roll | Resisting an attack lowers the cooldown to 10 seconds. |
| Blocky | Crafty Toss | Cooldown increases to 15 seconds after shoving a Co-Host with an item. |
| Dr Fizz | Fizzy Grenade | Cannot be used at low Pressure. |
With Leafy, keep aiming after a missed knife. Missing no longer reduces the first successful hit’s stun duration.
With Teardrop, account for the longer Throw cooldown after landing a hit. A successful attack leaves a longer gap before your next throw.
With Dr Fizz, watch Pressure before relying on Fizzy Grenade. Pressure builds even while stationary, but horizontal movement faster than the character’s base run speed increases the gain.
Practice Items and Abilities in Private Servers
Use a free private server to test mechanics with friends. In Beta 1.0.1, private servers have a player requirement, and the private server panel lets you disable it.

Start with a specific interaction: land Teardrop’s Throw and compare its cooldown with a miss, or practice Blocky’s item shove and watch the resulting cooldown. Testing one interaction at a time makes its timing easier to learn.
Open the in-game info menu for basic mechanics and character guides. Pair that information with practice before switching Contestants: Leafy’s hit-based stun, Teardrop’s conditional cooldowns, and Dr Fizz’s Pressure requirement each demand different timing.
